What Is The Benefit of The DTV Transition?

The transition to DTV will provide a host of important benefits:

The Switch to Digital Transmitions will bring with it its fair share of problems but fingers crossed may lead to some positive outcomes at the end of the day

• It has allowed stations to offer improved picture and surround Sound (Enhanced audio).
• We now have many digital radio stations and High De3finition broadcasting
• It has expanded programming choices for viewers. For example, broadcasters

Now offer multiple digital programs simultaneously (multicasting). So now we have SBS 1 SBS2 SBS3 SBS4 etc…  Doesn’t mean there is anything good on them yet but aussie TV is slowly getting better with the introduction of a 24 hour news channel and GEM, GO and 7mate. Between you and me I think Murdoch is shaking in his boots, the numbers of people turning away from foxtel and back to Freeview is astounding

Another positive outcome of the switch will be that a large part of the radio spectrum will be freed up for other services…  Some of the spectrum will be auctioned to companies that will be able to provide consumers with more advanced Wireless services.
FREE BROAD BAND IS COMING: well hopefully at least that’s what is happening in America and maybe the UK…  free broadband to the whole city hopefully is coming soon

Digital will eventually provide interactive video and data services that are not possible with analogue technology. We could be receiving internet through the setopbox or at least pay per view movies or other smart services
A digital signal can support a higher resolution, so the picture will still look good when shown on a larger TV screen -as long as you have a good expensive one with a high refresh rate, otherwise it looks like crap and can be fuzzy

TV Quality or Quantity

Lets be honest, most of the additional programmed channels On freeview are either repeats or they are trash. I know that is a Subjective opinion but i suspect most people would agree with It. There seams to be an inverse proportional law about TV, the more programs There are, the worse they are.Anyone who has ever visited or lived in America Can testify to this!
